February Challenge entry-Hope

Here is my entry for this month's challenge to re-create ourself as a favorite storybook character. I created Hope from the story of Pandora's Box. I did this character because I find her uplifting and inspiring, and great fun to imagine. I played this character in a play when I was in 5th or 6th grade. I had many more ideas to add, but figured I'd better get it posted and not yield to procrastination/perfectionism.

Amy she is beautiful! I love the butterfly at the end of her staff, I love the glow from her face and I love the flow of her dress. It is a fabulous piece!

How inspiring!! Amy, your illustration is fantastic. Great work. Like Sherry, I also love the sweeping flow of her dress and the butterfly atop her staff. The drawing has such an atmosphere of beauty and gracefulness. Your strokes are so lyrical.

Beautiful rendering, Amy. I can't tell if it's graphite or charcoal but you sure have control over the medium. I'm glad you're a part of Picture Bookies.

Rebecca and Bron,
Wow...you both are so kind! This is pencil. It's a joy to sometimes get back to simple pencil. I'm thrilled to have you both in picture bookies. Thank you so much for your kind comments. It means a great deal. Bron..I can't wait to see your Feb. challenge.

Amy- she is beautiful- your "quick" sketches are a thing of beauty!
Get her up on your portfolio- like this or with a quick water wash! Wow!
You are "Hope"!

Very lovely drawing, Amy! I particularly like her flowing dress, very soft and airy. You have me thinking about using pencil or colored pencil for this challenge. I've been working with oils so much lately it might be a nice break. I do LOVE pencils! And you seem as well! Great work! -Gina

Gina, get your pencils out..it is a joy to get back to graphite sometimes and let it flow. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
