Thinking Spring

©Kathleen Rietz
While I dare not show anyone my studio right now, here is somethng I sketched the other night IN my studio! How are you all doing? I know that Ginger and I have both suffered through monstrous winters! I am SO ready f0r spring! I hope this makes everyone feel a little warmer. Spring is just around the corner (even if that corner is 3 months from now!).

I know Chicagoland has had a miserable winter. I lived there when I was a junior in high school. My mother shudders when I remind her of our winter drives to the school. I think our car got stuck every day in the winter!

Your image of spring is lovely and inviting. Maybe we will be lucky and only have to wait two more months instead of three.

Thanks so much! So they say we are in a "La Nina" weather pattern. I have to admit that the snow looks so pretty tonite, but these are the times I am thankful I will be working from home tomorrow.

I did not know you had lived in this area Ginger! Seems like it is just cold and wet until June 1st, when it is suddenly 89 degrees and humid! Oh well! Still can't beat summer in Chicago. I remember still getting a significant snowfall in May last year.

Sherry, I thought of an illustration of yours while making this ilustration. The one girl helping the other girl up onto a haystack in a barn, as I recall. I always like that sort of interaction between friends....sweet pose, and we can all relate. So, I have to say you inspire me!

Hi Kate,

This is a beautiful sketch! The two girls look so natural--very nice piece.

Thanks for the spring reminder, Kate. A very charming drawing. Looking out my studio window, I can see teeny weeny buds on the trees. Spring will soon be here.

This a a beautiful illustration, Kate. Your girls are so pretty. This illo brings warm memories for sure. Here in the south we are having some days that are warm and others that are frosty cold. Like Bron I can also see buds everywhere....the promise of things to come.
